Major changes in my life

So, I've been working on building my Facebook page for a year now, and I am so happy to report that I have over 6,000 people on my fan page.
Pam's Watercolor Pet Portraits

I've been building a good reputation, improving my skills and offering more styles and items.

The most recent is offering bright paintings, non traditional - along with a pop this photo contest.

There seems to be a lot of interest in this new subject matter, with over 1,000 new people since I began the contest. I had no idea, that so many people would enter! It has been almost non-stop of entries received in my e-mail. Where I crop - reduce the size and upload five at at time. There is over 160 photos. The contestants have to get people to vote on my page in the album, with a comment "POP this Photo" - the one w/the most votes will win a free 8x10 gallery wrapped acrylic painting of their photo.
I have done this to stimulate interest in my page and to find out what the fans want. For, I have taken the huge leap of faith, and am no longer employed!
Can I make a living on my art? Who knows, but I have worked so long and hard at building my name and client base. To be self employed has always been my dream. Why toil for someone else? I didn't have benefits, or time off and had to travel so far, that after three years, I decided, somethings got to give. I'd much rather work 12hrs a day for myself for less money, than eight hrs for someone else for no respect.

I am very grateful for my Facebook following. They comment, share and purchase items, help me with fundraisers for rescues. Without the support from my fans, I would of never left my job, for I really was making good money as a Manager. But, life is short, and I have found my passion, and want to pursue it for as long as I can. I have the tenacity and heart big enough to really push and move forward. I believe that if one sets goals they can achieve them.

Thank you for believing in my spirit and strength to paint  as a full time artist, and give back to the rescues that so desperately need assistance.  Together, we can make the world a better place. Put a smile on a face, and perhaps wipe away the sorrow of the day.

  3. I wish you all the best Pam, I have read your entire blog. I have followed you as a fellow artist in the Canine Artist Guild and at Artist's Paycheck. As is true with all successful artists, your energy and willingness to put your self out there is awesome (or should I say, pawsome)!!! You deserve all of your success.
I sadly find facebook very difficult to get personal/feel two way with as yet, but you have inspired me to try harder to market my work on facebook.
